Indicator Filters
Indicator filters screen on pre-computed strength and regime metrics that Scanr calculates for every stock nightly. Unlike technical filters — which run a study on price history on demand — indicator filters read a single settled value per stock, so they're fast and let you express relative and top-down context ("stronger than the market", "its sector is strong") in one clause.
Indicator filters are a paid-tier feature. The three relative-strength scores are available on all paid plans; the regime and group metrics are part of the advanced regime stack.
Adding an Indicator Filter
Click Add Filter and choose Indicator. Each filter card has:
- Indicator selector — which metric to screen on (see the list below).
- Comparison mode — Value (compare to a fixed threshold) or Self (compare the metric to its own value on an earlier bar, e.g. "higher than it was 10 bars ago" to catch a rising trend).
- Condition — greater than, less than, equal to, not equal to, crosses above, crosses below, or between a range.
- Value input — clamped to each indicator's natural domain (see below).
- Distribution slider — a histogram of the current universe across the indicator's range, so you can pick a threshold against where stocks actually sit. Hidden in Self mode (there's no fixed threshold to place).
Relative Strength scores
Percentile ranks from 1–99 — where a stock's trailing performance sits within a comparison group. Higher = stronger.
Regime indicators
The regime stack describes how a stock is trending, in volatility-normalized units so values are comparable across tickers.
Group Strength
Group Strength (−100…100, signed) is a top-down context signal: it's the Regime Extension of the stock's primary sector/thematic ETF, measured on the ETF's own price — not aggregated from its members. In plain terms: how strong is the group this stock belongs to?
Use it to gate a setup on its environment — for example "a market leader (RS Market ≥ 80) whose sector ETF is itself strong (Group Strength ≥ 10)", or, in Self mode, "a group whose regime is rising" to catch sector rotation early. Because it reads the ETF's own regime, a strong Group Strength means the whole group is participating, not just one name.
Freshness: Group Strength is end-of-day settled — during the trading day it reflects yesterday's group regime. Realtime intraday parity is planned.
Membership caveat: the stock → ETF assignment uses current ETF membership, so it's a live-context signal rather than a point-in-time-clean historical one.
Related presets
Two starter presets use Group Strength out of the box — Leaders in Strong Groups (strong name in a strong group) and Sector Rotating In (group regime turning up). Load them from Presets in the scanner.
